What is CRI?

Colour Rendering Index, or CRI, refers to the quality of light delivered, particular in relation to giving the most accurate representation of colour. This value is often described as a number between 1-100, with 1 being the worst and 100 the best.

The close to 100 a light source’s CRI rating is, the truer a representation of surface colours it will give.

Having an exceptionally high CRI rating is more important in some application than others, but it is preferably to have a relatively high CRI (80+) in almost all interior applications, to avoid the light source providing an unpleasant aesthetic. Galleries, museums and printing presses would likely require a luminaire with 90+ CRI, whereas CRI80 would suffice more most offices and commercial spaces.

All our luminaires operate at a minimum of CRI80, but we can offer high CRI solutions too within a number of our ranges. Get in touch with us today to find out more.
